It’s been too long! I haven’t written here in awhile, mainly because it’s been a season of big transitions for the Finnegan-Hoseys. We recently relocated to Richmond, VA, where I am now serving as co-minister of Bon Air Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Leigh has joined the chaplaincy team at VCU Medical Center. Laila has learned to crawl and is experimenting with walking, and Penny is still a good dog. This is a good move for us and we’re excited for this new adventure.
Here are a few recent writing and speaking updates:
My article “How to Break the Stigma around Mental Health in the Church” was published on Faithward, and is also included in the new Everybody Belongs, Serving Together resource for church accessibility and inclusion
My church has weekly Mental Wellness Moments that we post through our Facebook page; you can see a recent one by clicking here. (And you can see sermons on our YouTube page if you’re interested)
I participated in the creation of the new curriculum Sacred Crossings: Intersectionality and Mental Health through the Mental Health Network of the United Church of Christ; you can see a preview video here.
Leigh and I also recently helped create a curriculum for the Episcopal Church’s “Lesson Plans that Work” initiative; it’s not available yet but should be posted on this website sometime soon.
I’ll be speaking at the Wild Goose Festival again this year, coming up Sept 2-5 in Hot Springs, NC
I’ve also been invited to give the annual Snidow Lecture at the University of Lynchburg, which will take place this year on Monday, September 20.
As always, you can purchased books on my Bookshop store!
